DESCRIPTION
History:
From the XVlll century the country house has been the customary residence of the doctors that attended to the medical needs of the local inhabitants, from where the name was taken “Cal Metge”. At the turn of the 20th century it was converted into a miners residence, when the mining of lignite was the main activity in the region. After years of neglection, it underwent an important refurbishing reconverting the old country house into a comfortable Rural Hostal and a family residence, respecting the local character and surroundings of the region.
Location:
The “Cal Metge” country house is found in the Vallcebre village, on the mountain called “Alt Berguedà” at a height of 1.234 m. This village developed around the Holy Mary Parish Church, and there are municipal documents that go back as far as the year 839. In old times it owned the Peguera Castle with the barons of Peguera and the abbé of Bagá.
Surrounded by forests and mountains the “Serrat Voltor” rises majestically to a height of 2.271 metres the region is crisscrossed by little streams that flow into the Saldes river bed, cattle raising was the main activity of its people, until the reconversion in the region to mining which lasted up to the 90`s.

All the rooms have a private bathroom, instant hot water, individual heating, TV, and panoramic views from each room, as all of them are exterior. At the same time you can enjoy a large drawing room with a fireplace, a room for activities, astronomic observatory, solarium, and lots of garden space.
We offer half boarding ( breakfast and Dinner) for the guests convenience. You are able to taste the local dishes and when in season the “cuina del bolet” (eatable wild mushrooms) fresh in from the nearby forests.
The prices per person and day for half board throughout 2004 are:
Individual room: 60 Euros
Double room: 45 Euros per person
Supplement for children over two years of age: 10 Euros
Children under two years of age; free
