DESCRIPTION
SOLAR DE FEBRER is in the Rioja Alta, a nobleman’s mansion transformed into a place of peace and rest. Its traditional architecture, with stone walls outside and carefully refurbished interior, in a contemporary style, makes the SOLAR DE FEBRER a comfortable place in which to enjoy a warm welcome at any time of the year.
The Solar de Febrer hotel opened its doors in March 2009 with the firm intention of meeting the growing demand for attractive, high quality accommodation in the Rioja Alta. It is located in the small town of Tirgo in a stone town house dating back to the 18th century, in the case of the cellar, with a façade that reflects the style of the 19th century. The building has been refurbished by the renowned architect Javier Arizcuren so as to make it more functional, as well as to highlight its aesthetic value, particularly in the façade.
SERVICES
As well as the previously mentioned restaurant, it has its own car park. The suites and common areas have air conditioning and there is wireless broadband access to internet throughout the building, with facilities for the disabled. There are bedrooms set aside for non-smokers. The hotel management offers wine tasting activities in the historic cellars below the building as well as advice on bodegas to visit in the area, since Haro is only 10 minutes away. Other tourist attractions are the nearby ski resort of Valdezcaray or the historic sites of Santo Domingo de la Calzada or Briones, the Romanesque art routes of the Obarenes or the tours of the lovely noblemen’s houses of La Rioja
ROOMS
It has four floors on which the guest will find ten rooms, two of them suites and four doubles, as well as spacious common areas, with balcony, library, bar-saloon or dining room, all carefully decorated in such a way as to give each area a character of its own. As well as the smart interiors, guests can also enjoy exclusive access to a private garden and patio-terrace with a view, which allow you to enjoy the outdoors from breakfast time into the long summer evenings.
GALLERY
One notable feature of Solar de Febrer is the select collection of works of art used to adorn the common areas and bedrooms. Among the collection of original works you can find works by established artists such as Canogar, Gordillo or Broto, as well as other pieces by younger artists such as María Vallina or Graça Marques. But if one artist has defined the appearance of Solar de Febrer it is the sculptor José Antonio Olarte, whose great intervention, entitled Espacios Compartidos (Shared Spaces), situated on a sheet of water in the indoor garden, has also led to other pieces in different formats, including the hotel’s graphic design. His exclusive work on bronze plaques fixed to the outdoor walls also contributes to the image of the hotel as a space in which contemporary art and traditional hospitality meet.
FOOD
The architectural group of the hotel is completed by the Asador Pimiento, a famed establishment with over forty years offering the traditional Rioja menu par excellence, preparing its dishes on the charcoal grill in full view of diners.
